TATTOO AFTERCARE
If using a product like Second skin or Recovery wrap, remove the bandage after 24 hours and wash with antibacterial soap. Gently pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a new piece of wrap according to instructions, and leave it in place 3-5 days. If signs of infection or irritation develop around the covered area, remove and wash with antibacterial soap.
If you are not using a product like Second skin or Recovery wrap,
Wash your tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap such as liquid gold dial.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel and apply a thin layer of aquaphor or A&D ointment. (You should not have a build-up of ointment, just enough so it doesn’t dry out.)
Repeat this process 2-3 times a day
(Or as needed if it gets dirty or sweaty.)
DO Not pick scabs. This will cause it to bleed and pull the ink out.
Avoid contact with scented lotions body wash and shampoo/conditioner.
Avoid contact with animals and animal fur.
Avoid gardening for 2 weeks
Do not swim or soak in a hot tub or bath for at least 2 weeks.
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
After the tattoo is fully healed, you will want to use sunscreen to keep your tattoo fresh and bright. Do not use sunscreen until the tattoo is fully healed.
Wear loose clothing over your tattoo to avoid rubbing that can cause scabbing.
Signs of infection include but are not limited to fever, redness and swelling of the area, pus, and red streaks. If any signs of infection occur, please contact your artist and a medical professional.
